Avery's family moved from Missloula, Montana to St. Claire in August 2008 so that he could attend a program that would allow him to enter SCCU three years early. His father, Stephen Erdos then went back to Missoula on business, but never returned. Avery's mother, Ekatarin, works part time at the Athena Library so that she can be at home when her sons Avery and Nikolai get back from school.
